Facebook Groups App For The Social Network Ecosystem
Facebook developers have churned out yet another app, this time focusing on Group chats. The new Facebook Groups App developed by Creative Labs is focused mainly on group interactions. The Group app is a refreshing relief for Facebook users who use Facebook chat regularly but find it difficult to open it every time. Since the chat option has been categorized in the main app, opening it consumed a good amount of time.
Social messaging apps like Whatsapp, Vine, Snapchat have been steadily eating up the social messaging market. Because of the light sites, these messaging applications have grown the favorite of most of the users. Facebook, being a heavy site, takes much time to download.
Also, the chat application on Facebook is buried deep within the main application. This has been making users shift to messaging applications for quicker interaction. This might be the reason for Facebook to develop a fresh and new application.
About Facebook Group App
According to Creative Labs, the new Facebook Groups App is quite similar to the main app. The features too resemble the main app. However, as compared to the main app, this is lighter. This makes opening up of the app and interaction easier.
You can create separate groups and name them according to your choice. These groups can be your friends, family, co-workers or any one of your choice. Each group will have a separate display of newsfeeds, status updates, images etc. Your updates and uploads will only be visible on the group in which you post them.
You can also find and add-up social activity groups that you share your interest with. For example – you can join “photography lovers” group or “Love cycling” group if you are interested in such activities.
However unlike Facebook messenger, this application will be available independently on your smartphones as well as within the main app.
Is Facebook turning manipulative?
With Facebook Groups App, it seems that Facebook targets at conquering the entire social networking ecosystem, be it social media or social messaging.
A new app has been popping out of Creative Labs every alternate day. Facebook becoming more advertiser-friendly than ever before beams on the fact that theb social network is trying to spread its tentacles in every social activity of its users. Facebook Groups App is advertisement-free at present. But the question is how long will it stay so?
