Leaked Windows 9 Screenshots

The current Windows version is soon going to make room for the higher version as the leaked screenshots reveal. The leaked Windows 9 screenshots bear testimony to the extent to which Windows can work to retain the desktop users.

The update comes with the code name of Threshold and might be called Windows 9 or Windows. The updated version of Windows has taken a few features from Windows 8 to put them on the new Desktop. Some of the rumored features that upcoming version of Windows will include are the likes of pop-up Start menu and the ability to open apps in Windowed mode. The leaked Windows 9 screenshots reveal more details about the features.

Expected features on Windows 9

When the apps in Windows store open in Windowed mode, there is a button on the top left corner. When this button is clicked, a complete list of functions show up which was earlier included in the Charms bar. The functions include those of Search, Play, Share, Project and Settings. The menu allows the users to stretch the apps to full screen mode.

Apart from new features, Windows also adds new buttons to the taskbar. To the immediate right of the Start button, there will be search button, beside which again there will be an extra button. This extra button will help the user switch between different desktops.

Microsoft Leaked Windows 9 Screenshots

This feature is probably in correspondence to the “Workspaces” feature in Ubuntu Linux. The feature in Windows will, in all probability, be called “virtual desktops”. It will allow the users to switch between multiplte desktop apps.

There will be a notifications-button on the right of the taskbar. It will offer a pop-up menu which, in all likeliness, will show messages from the Windows App Store. There were rumors about the Charms bar being absent. However, the leaked Windows 9 screenshots show that Charms can be brought up by pointing to the upper right corner.

Probable release dates for Windows 9

Microsoft has not yet mentioned any specific or even probable date for releasing the updated version of Windows. However, following the leakage of screenshots of the upgraded version of Windows, there are rumors about the release of Windows 9. While some say that it will be released by the end of 2014, others stretch the release date till the month of September next year.

While this is all that the leaked Windows 9 screenshots could tell us, stay tuned for more.
