How To Remove Computer Virus?

Computer viruses are software programs that hamper the performance of your computer and grants access of the system to unauthorized sources. There are several antivirus software’s available in the market. Some are free others are paid; you can install them to protect your system. Apart from that there are firewalls that come with the operating system, also offer basic protection against virus. However, at times the viruses are stronger than the antiviruses and that’s when your computer gets into trouble.

So what should you do if your computer gets infected with virus?

Respond to the alert– Every updated and premium version of antivirus software will immediately alert you about any sort of threat that it faces. There is an alert page where the viruses are listed, your antivirus software will try to remove or isolate it for you. With some software’s you might need to grant permission to remove the virus for you. Once the virus is removed you will be prompted about its successful execution. You must then turn off your computer, reboot and scan once again. If the software gives you a clear result then your computer is safe, if it still detects a threat then you will have to re-run the scan all over again.

Runaway viruses– Nowadays viruses are aimed to target your personal details. If your computer is performing slowly, programs are running in an unexpected way then the best thing you can do is to remove the internet connection, so that no information is send to a third party in case of an attack. If the internet is running on the wireless adapter then you must turn it off or remove the connection. Once the connection is removed you must run your antivirus software from your computer or directly from the disc to remove the virus. This method will not work if you are using an online scanner, as an online scanner might not be able to detect the threat and if it doesn’t then the risks will only increase, as you might perceive that there is no threat.

Removing the virus manually– If you have knowledge about windows registry and know how to get into the system and program files in windows then delete the program and system files in windows. You will have to run an antivirus scan, in case your antivirus is unable to detect the threat then you will have to closely follow the behavior of your computer and see what kind of virus might have affected your system and accordingly you will have to tackle with the threat.

Advance removal– At times even after multiple scans on your computer will show the malware. In such a case you can run your computer in safe mode. When you run your computer in safe mode your machine will only use the core elements of the OS. Now run your antivirus in this mode. If you see a malware you are closer to the solution. Some malware exist to download other kinds of malware so install them on your machine. If you successfully remove all the applications then you are good to go. In case the antivirus is unable to remove the virus you will have to seek help from an internet security firm. They will list the files that are associated with a particular virus and will let you know where to expect them. Now you can delete them but you must keep a backup of your registry folder so that in case you delete a useful file you can have a backup. Now delete all files associated with the malware on your list. After you are done with it you can reboot your system.

One common misconception is formatting; as soon as the computer is infected with virus we tend to format it. However, formatting is not always the solution as once you format there is no guarantee that the virus will not come back. So unless and until everything has been tried you must not format your system. After successfully removing the viruses make sure to install the best antivirus so that you remain protected and do run regular scans to protect the system.
